Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, has recently granted the adjusted investment certificate to Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd., reflecting an increase of USD 1.07 billion in capital. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).
On July 1, in Seoul, South Korea, during the Vietnam – Korea Business Forum, and in the presence of the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, and leaders from both governments, ministries, sectors, localities, and enterprises of the two countries, a total of 23 cooperation agreements were signed.
Vice Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan handed over the adjusted investment certificate to Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd., along with the MoU between the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee and LH.
Accordingly, the project to manufacture, assemble, and test semiconductor materials and equipment by AMKOR Technology Singapore Holding PTE.LTD at Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park will see an additional capital of over USD 1.07 billion.

Post-investment adjustment, Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd.'s plant will have a total investment of USD 1.6 billion, with a production capacity of 3.6 billion products per year.
The project's operational timeline begins from the date of investment registration certificate issuance and extends until September 11, 2068. Trial production is scheduled from Q1 2025 to Q2 2025, with official production commencing from Q3 2025, and reaching maximum capacity by Q4 2035.
According to the MoU, the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee and LH will explore, exchange ideas, and collaborate on various tasks, including developing planning concepts, investment roadmaps, and operational plans to successfully implement a modern, model urban area. They will also organize seminars on urban issues in Bac Ninh province, South Korea’s legal system, and proposals for regulatory improvements as well as operational plans for the Southeast Urban Area.
In November 2021, South Korean Amkor Corporation decided to invest in a manufacturing, assembly, and testing plant for semiconductor materials and equipment at Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park, Yen Phong District, Bac Ninh Province. The plant, operated by Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd., covers a total area of 23 hectares.
The Amkor Technology Vietnam plant has a total investment of USD 1.6 billion, divided into three phases, with Phase I valued at USD 520 million. By 2035, the project is expected to create approximately 10,000 jobs. In the initial phase, the plant will focus on testing and providing advanced System-in-Package (SiP) assembly and testing solutions for leading electronics and semiconductor manufacturers worldwide.
Established in 1968, Amkor Technology was founded simultaneously in the United States and South Korea, with its headquarters located in the United States. Amkor Technology is the first company to produce semiconductors in South Korea, pioneering the semiconductor industry in the country. The company was instrumental in introducing the semiconductor field to South Korea, achieving significant success and recognition in this sector.
Currently, Amkor Corporation operates 20 business and production locations globally, employing 30,000 people across eight countries. Amkor Technology offers over 3,000 high-tech solutions for various applications, including automotive, telecommunications, entertainment, computing, and industrial products.
The project has passed the “contract award announcement” milestone and has officially broken ground, marking the transition from information disclosure to active execution.
