The construction of the passenger terminal at Long Thanh Airport is in full swing, with thousands of engineers, workers, and machines working around the clock in three shifts.

For the construction and installation of equipment for the runway, taxiway, and apron, the contractor has essentially completed the basic structure of these components. This package, with a total investment of over VND 8,100 billion (the second-largest after the passenger terminal package), is progressing well.

The construction unit is currently working on drainage culverts and cutting channels for the airport's lighting system, aiming to complete the runway and conduct calibration flights by April 30, 2025.

Materials such as sand and stone are readily available on-site to ensure a smooth and efficient supply for the construction process.

The passenger terminal package is the largest, most technically complex, and has the longest construction time among the packages in Phase 3 of the Long Thanh Airport project, which includes essential facilities.

According to representatives of the contractors, since the groundbreaking ceremony for the package at the end of 2023, the consortium has mobilized over 1,500 engineers and workers, along with more than 350 machines, vehicles, and pieces of equipment, to accelerate the progress of the runway construction at Long Thanh Airport.

Long Thanh International Airport is a national key project with an investment of approximately USD 5 billion for Phase 1. It is set to become Vietnam's largest airport, covering an area of 5,364 hectares and with a capacity to serve up to 100 million passengers per year.
